DIY T-Shirt -Wings Cut Out

How to: T-Shirt Cut Out -Wings

 Materials:

  •  T-shirt (I normally wear small, this is medium)
  • Measuring Tape/ Ruler
  • Regular Ball Point Pen
  • Gel Pen or A marker that won't bleed through
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Pins

1. Turn T-Shirt inside out, back facing up
- Flatten and smooth to make sure it is even
-Measure from middle of the sleeve seam to the other and find the middle. Mark an inch out from each side of the middle (3 inch space total)

2. Using the ball point pen lightly sketch out the outside shape of the wing that you want
- Start filling feather-like shapes in the center
*TIP* Line the boarder with feathers first, so when it is cut, the shape of the wing is still there.
-Try to keep at least a 1/2 inch space between all feathers.

3. Cut out all feathers on that side
-If you cut too close to another hole, you can hand sew a few stitches to reinforce the space so it doesn't rip.

SECOND WING

4. Turn T-Shirt right side out
-Fold back in half so the back of the shirt is touching
*TIP* to make sure the back is even, line up the bottom of the arm where the seams meet and pin
-Use pins where necessary to keep even

5. Using the gel pen, trace the leaves
*TIP* don't use a sharpie, it will bleed through and the side the is done is right side out so if you get any marks on it, it will show.

6. Take pins out, turn inside out, cut feathers

Be careful when putting the shirt on, it could rip easily. It also gets caught on things...
